Student Equipment Loaner Program

Students in the Departments of the College of Built Environments who have signed up for the loaner program can check out laptop computers (Mac and Windows), portable data / video projectors, digital cameras, digital video camcorders, Wacom tablets, and audio recording equipment from the Built Environments Library.

In addition to the equipment available to BE students through our equipment loaner program, UW Classroom Support Services offers a similar loaner program with a lot more equipment (especially projectors). To learn about this, go to:

Location:

Built Environments Library, Gould 334

How Do I Check Out the Equipment?

To qualify to check out this equipment, you must:

  1. Be an undergraduate major or graduate student in one of the College's departments:

    • Architecture
    • Construction Management
    • Landscape Architecture
    • Urban Design and Planning

  2. Have a current UW Library account. For more information about UW Library accounts, have a look at links on:

    UW Library Accounts

  3. Read (and be sure you understand) the responsibilities, guidelines, and equipment replacement costs detailed on the web pages:

    Responsibilities and Guidelines

    Equipment Replacement Costs

  4. Print, read, fill out, and sign the Statement of Responsibility form. Please note that you will need to submit a new Statement of Responsibility form each academic year, and that you'll need to submit one for any summer quarter during which you want to check out equipment.

  5. Submit this form in person to the BE Library (Gould 334) during regular library hours. Be sure to bring your student ID and a photo ID with you when you submit the form. If the BE Library can verify your status, you may check out equipment immediately. If other verification is required, this may need to be worked out with the Dean's office, and may delay equipment checkout for one or two business days.

Once approved, you may checkout items during regular library hours as long as you are an active student. Checkout periods vary from 2 hours to 72 hours, depending upon the item.

To see if the equipment you want is available, you can check the library's online reserve catalog. Go to

and search the Course Reserves by course or by professor. In either case, enter "be" in the search field, and click the Submit button.
