Archnet is a design studio technology services group within the College of Built Environments. Archnet provides technology and design studio computing resources, supporting Windows and Mac OS design studio workstations, personal computers, design applications, scanners, printers, and plotters. The Archnet help desk, printers, and plotters are located in Architecture Hall, room G51.
Each studio contains at least two Macintosh computers, both of which are set up with BootCamp to run Windows 10 as well as Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite). Studios also include either a tabloid or letter size scanner. Wireless and hard-wired ethernet connections are available for individuals wishing to connect their own computers. The studios in Architecture Hall 230 and 260 also include laser cutters. Check out the Laser Cutter section of the Fabrication Labs page for more information.
File Storage Policies
Files stored directly on Architecture Hall computers can be deleted at any time. Architecture Hall computers are only for temporary storage of files that are backed up in another location. Back-up files to personal disks, CDs, DVDs, jump drives, your U-drive, cloud storage, or other long-term archive media for safe storage. You are responsible for keeping copies of your work.
Printing + Plotting
For detailed instructions on printing from within specific programs, please review the guides listed below. We recommend that AutoCAD or GIS files be converted into PDF for printing.
Personal computers can be set up to print to the Archnet printers and plotters. To do so you will need a current Archnet account, and have access to a local Administrators account on the computer you wish to install the devices on. Instructions for the supported operating systems are linked below.

Our printers and plotters are run from our print server, Archduke. In order to print, you must have an Archnet account. If you are a BE student and you do not have an account set up, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will enable an Archnet account associated with your UW NetID so you can print on Archnet devices.
Your Archnet user account has the ability to hold a printing account balance that is debited each time you print to one of our printers or plotters. You can add to this balance by bringing your Husky Card to the Archnet office in Architecture Hall G51 between the hours of 9am and 4pm and transferring money (minimum $10 per transaction) from your Husky Card account to your Archnet account.
You may obtain a refund of any unused money on your Archnet account during finals week or between quarters during breaks.

The help desk is staffed during the hours posted below. During this time there is a minimum of one student consultant available to assist with computer (personal and studio) issues and printing problems. The Archnet Manager is usually also available to assist with problems weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
